What drives us
Making visible what too often stays hidden.
Most incidents are never reported — out of shame, fear, or exhaustion. Saferspaces was built on the conviction that this has to change: that reporting must be possible whenever, wherever, and however people need it.
Anonymous. Low-barrier. For everyone. So that invisible incidents become visible data — and data becomes change.
The current situation
Germany is bottom of the European league.
Racism, discrimination, sexualised violence, and harassment are everyday realities — at festivals, in stadiums, on public transport, at universities, in public space. The numbers are rising, yet most incidents are never reported.
Lack of protection
In every other EU country surveyed, sexual harassment is explicitly outlawed in both civil and labour law and is prosecuted criminally. In Germany? Only at work. Anyone harassed outside the workplace is left almost entirely without legal protection.
2 months instead of 3–5 years
Even if someone wants to act, only two months remain to initiate legal proceedings — for something that often takes weeks just to put into words. In other European countries, those affected have three to five years.
Without a contact point, people wait
And in Germany, those who wait too long lose every claim. Reforms are urgently needed — but reforms take time. And data that proves the urgency.
